Youth Programmes
ARD YOUTH PROJECT
‘World Within’ is ARD FRC’s Global Citizenship Education Programme funded by Irish Aid.
This project has 4 key components:
● Our Fair World youth group is for 8-12 year olds and they meet weekly to learn
about global justice issues that they are passionate about and that are relevant to
their lives. They also work towards taking actions for positive change.
Thursdays: 3pm to 4.30pm during school term.
Location: ARD Cumasú Centre.
● Global Citizenship group is for 13-18 years olds and they also meet weekly to explore different topics and issues.
Thursdays 5pm to 6.30pm during school term.
Location: ARD Cumasú Centre.
This group have developed a youth-led resource exploring the international protection system in Ireland and the reality for those living
in this system. This resource is called Tight Spaces and it is available online:
Please contact Natasha@ardfrc.com for more information about this youth project.
●In collaboration with Youth Work Ireland Galway, our GCE programme coordinates a network for Galway-based youth workers and facilitators who
are involved in Global Citizenship Education. We aim to meet 4 times a year and
share resources, information and learn together. If you are interested in joining this network or finding out more about it, please contact Natasha@ardfrc.com.
● Monthly peer learning sessions for staff, placement students and volunteers to
explore the interconnectedness between social justice issues locally and globally.
These sessions have involved sessions on climate action, diversity and inclusion,
and trauma-informed practice.

FOROIGE
● Foróige is the leading youth organisation in Ireland and has been working with young people since 1952. Our purpose is to enable young people to involve themselves consciously and actively in their development and in the development of society.
● We work with over 50,000 young people aged 10-18 each year through volunteer-led Clubs and staff-led Youth Projects.
● All Foróige Clubs, Projects, Services and Programmes are designed to achieve these outcomes in a developmental and fun way, by:
1. Building self esteem and confidence through challenging experiences
2. Develop the ability to manage personal and social relationships
3. Providing learning opportunities which enable youth to gain knowledge and develop new skills
4. Build young people’s capacity to consider risks and consequences, make informed decisions and take responsibility
Location: ARD Cumasú Centre.
